The original gaseous fire extinguishing agent, carbon dioxide, or CO2, suppresses fire without leaving behind water or contaminants which could damage sensitive equipment. It extinguishes the fire by reducing oxygen to a level insufficient to support combustion. Because of the nature of the agent, not only are you up and running because there is no clean-up there is also no damage to the equipment.
Although carbon dioxide fire protection is not a new concept, its versatility and unique benefits have kept it in high demand. Carbon Dioxide can be applied by totally flooding an enclosed area or locally discharging the agent directly on the surface of the burning material. Today’s systems are equipped with sophisticated detectors, intelligent control panels and computer designed distribution networks.
At Fire Chief Equipment, we design and install three different types of Carbon Dioxide Systems for various sized applications. Click on the systems noted on the right side of this page to learn more.
